Hallo and welcome, you have a beautiful golden mantled rosella, or also known as an eastern rosella with the Latin name platycercus elecica. it is very hard to tell a male from a female owing to little sexual dimorphism between both male and female with out having them side by side. how do I know it is a elecica, because the yellow feathers join up from the back to its chest. Peter in my photo is a platycercus eximius eastern or golden mantled rosella, notice the red breaks the colour from the chest feathers and the top of the wing feathers
What a lovely Rosella but I cannot help with identify in whether its male or female either.
I found this info though:
*******************
The female is on average smaller, the plumage is a duller red and they have a narrower bill. The edging to the back feathers is dull green. The whitish under-wing stripe is present in many females.Sexing young birds can prove difficult and DNA sexing may be the only way to know for sure at a young age.
*********************************
Females of this species can be just as bright in colours but in general many are a little duller. the beak size is a way of telling the sex but without seeing the two sexes side by side it is not easy to tell as the difference is minor.
