HI EVERYONE, I AM NEW TO ALL THIS

I doubt driftwood a good idea it will have absorbed salt. willow, hazel, apple are good to use. I tend to use hazel as here there is plenty around and scrub them then fit in cages in varying thickness, also made a table top stand for the parrots too, in the past have made floor standing ones.

Hi guys not been here for a while but I have just learned from a book I bought about CAG's and in the book they touch on parrot cages. The cage I have at the moment is 2ft wide and 21/2ft depth and 4ft high, they have suggested that I should have a cage 3ft X 4ft X 6ft.
I have not received my baby CAG yet (due in March I hope) but I am getting everything ready. Should I be looking for a bigger cage than I have or do you think this is sufficient.

I'd recommend the bigger cage with lots of natural branches for the baby to chew on and scramble about on. Hopefully the baby will also be spending the majority of its time outside the cage once it has settled in.

You could maybe keep the smaller cage too, perhaps in another room, as greys like to have plenty spaces that are safe to explore and/or take a nap in.

You will find that the baby hates to be alone - so the more options it has to be near you, the merrier.

Hi OLI , yes I was thinking on the same lines as you. I will probably look for a bigger cage and also keep the one I already have to put in another room. So now I have to look for other cages , the ones I have seen are in the 100's so maybe it will have to wait a little while until I can afford it/, but thank you for your advice...…… Steve

So,, after my last blog about a bigger cage ,,, does anyone know of a sufficient cage that I can but within reason , ive been on a few sites but all are out of my price range (if I bought a new one) but im looking for any LARGE used decent cage and am prepared to travel, if so let me know .
thanks

Sometimes we do get members selling their cages but none coming up at the moment.
Have you tried your local FB page, although do be careful when buying a second hand cage.
Maybe members can advise on which reasonably priced ones they have.

An alternative could be to have one made to your requirements, for example by Rosemead Aviaries. Worth che king their website.

HI guys update from my last blog I have now bought a bigger cage so i have the one I got for sale: does anyone know if anybody wants to buy this cage the measurements are: 2ftwide X 2ft depth X 69inches high with bottom skirt and top outside perch with 2 feeding bowls and ladder. inside the cage are 2 perches and 2 feeding bowls. This cage is very clean (as new) and I am selling it for 70 pound ono. So anyone in the south wales area interested?
(or beyond) good bargain.

don't know how to put a photo of the cage on for people to see. any advice on how to do this as I am not good with technology lol

Hi guys not been on for a while but I have just been reading about air-purifiers! Is this a necessity..? I have read a lot about the dust the birds emit but do I have to have a purifier and what purpose is it for?
steve

Greys loose a lot of dander and the dust gets in the air and will settle every place, the purifier helps keep the dust under control and also cleans the air in the room, you may be surprised just how much dust or dirt is floating about in the air even with out a bird living in the room. they are just as good for us as they are for our birds.

Hi guys ive not been here in a while and STILL NOT HAD MY PARROT?????? I was supposed to have it this month but the breeder keeps telling me that" because of the bad weather they have not hatched but it wont be long now"!!!!!!!! I am so disappointed and really don't know if this breeder is genuine, I have placed a reserve fee of £200 but im really not happy !! Any advice?

Ask for your money back. There is a finite time for parrots or anything to hatch, don't be taken in by that. How did you pay the reservation money?

I hope you paid by credit card as this will give you more rites and they can recover the monies if there is no satisfactory answer. so much will depend on when the last egg was laid and not on the weather. how long since he said they had started laying?

Hi everyone ,,, not been here for quite a while, due to (I think) being ripped off!!!!! if you remember I was supposed to have a baby CAG with me in april but still to no avail despite me paying #200 reserve fee to this so called breeder in Newport South Wales. she has constanly given excuse after excuse , 1st she said that they were laying ( that was back in February) then we went down to her shop beginning of this month and she said that they were just sitting on eggs???? I asked her to keep me updated but still despite me sending emails and looking on her so called new website w sti;; have not heard anything from her. What do you make of all this ? do you think she is ripping me off or am I just impatient? we reserved the parrot back last November.

Hello and welcome back, although not the best situation!
I don't know much about breeding and hatching of birds so can't offer much advice, however i hope that things work out well for you.. it does seem a long time though for a bird to sit on their eggs..
