Help Needed Romford Area

hello my elderly 'Romford' father had a heart attack and a leg removed last year.
He has an amazon parrot which he adores as it is great company for him.
The parrot is in desperate need of claw clipping and I think the beak too. I am also disabled and am from out of area but I do visit.
I have a plea for help for a local, with knowledge of the species to do the clipping. We would be happy to pay for this and any travel.
The parrot isn't handled but can be stroked. It isn't particularly large either.
Due to our circumstances we would find it very difficult to take to a vet whom I have made enquiries. They won't do a home visit for this. So I would need someone to go to his home please (sheltered accommodation) . I could also be their.

what I have done on one occassion when really stuck was used a pet taxi- some will do whole process- collect pet , go into vet with pet and deliver home with you paying vet via credit card on phone. vets often keep numbers of pet companies who offer this

Thankyou. Sadly I called several local vets and the pdsa (including an exotic specialist vet) none could help.

Hi Maria and :welcome: to the forum.

I'm sorry you are having problems with getting veterinary assistance for your father's parrot, and I hope he is making a good recovery.

Have you spoken to Lawton and Stoakes - http://www.vets.uk.net/index.htm
They are the Avian specialists in the area

Animals at home operate a pet taxi in that area

I will try and see if we have any members local to you , I can't think of any off the top of my head,

And I will also tag in @Michael Reynolds to see if the charity he helps with has anyone local to Romford who might be able to help with transport.

Just had another thought, you may like to ask retired avian vet Alan K Jones who still works part time he may be willing to come to your fathers if you explain , he covers clinics in Surrey, Kent and South London 01342 835000 email [email protected]

Hello
Yes I tried Lawton & Stoakes and explained the situation but they wouldn't come out

Oh dear, sorry about that...I would have hoped that the staff at a specialist vet would have thought a bit more "outside the box" and recommended a local pet taxi or ambulance if they could not accommodate a home visit.

This is an awfull situation for you MariaSt im so lost for words that the vet can't help especially with what your situation is [emoji17].

Can I be of Help? long nails and beaks can be caused by a lack of calcium. I may be able to trim your birds nails but I will not touch the beak as if it gets to a thin sharp end you will find it will break at the tip I can also give advice on how to help your bird keep things trimmed by perches and foraging toys.

Wtg Clinton & Michael so proud to be a member of this forum we all help each other with information or things that are needed well done guy's x
