she will not forget or ignore you :) she will however be distracted by the handsome devil of her own kind you found to cherish her they look to be well suited

what is there to be sad about you are giving her a chance (and him too) to he with their own kind from a very young age to grow together have a friend of their own kind to always have somebody to chat away too to get those itchy tickly bits that you have no idea exist  you should be proud of them and the way they gently interact with each other ... it is you that has provided them with another option in their world smile and be happy you have accomplished much in a short time.

Thank you so much Dizzie....Comments from experienced people is pure gold to me...and frankly it is so rewarding when someone is "ticking" on what you do and offer to these beautiful parrot faces :)

hopefully you will pass on the things you learn from your birds and living with them to others and that way help many other birds to have a happier life with their human companions :)

Absolutely Dizzy.....thats the purpose....to "give" and to "take" :) Not just the one or just the other...Unfortunately, for the moment, am just "taking", but i will "give", i promise (i have to learn first otherwise i will be telling nonsenses :(  )....

i on the other hand do not believe that is quite true.... i can see how your birds react with you, how calm and relaxed they are, how attentive they are but most of all how relaxed and natural they are with each other, you know more than you think you do  :)

to hear you have to listen, to listen you have to want to understand and learn.

I know the feeling of bonding because when I gave Charlie to the man advertising on preloved, I cried all night and day afraid for his safety and was devastated when he told me I could never see him again, I just had to get him back.Lucky I was but what about all those other people who have given there birds up.

well in athens the weather is always hotter than the northern part of this country...at the north it already started snowing and shortly when the wind changes will bring this cool downside too...this winter my babies will be 2 years old...day by day we get stronger and stronger untill we are adults!yes maam! (my constant fear that they might cautch a cold and pass away will be reduced....it is silly  i know but i really really really dont want them to die on me)

They are such beautiful birds. :)

I think we all worry about our birds! But am sure yours will be fine with those temperatures......the thing to watch out for is if there is a draught From windows or around doors.

Merry Christmas.   It sounds like you had a great Christmas!

dianna i was looking at his wigs and his behavior....he really tries to do it....she doesnt let him though and she keeps asking him to feed her but seems like he doesnt "get" it right and just tries to get on her... I am so curious...if he would keep feeding her would they mate then?or they're too young and they are just "playing" adults?

I'm with Diana on this its pair bonding behaviour and the half mounting is practice at the moment their hormones are hitting them and they are just coming up to two years old, all things will start to move fast in the coming year as they mature into more adult status birds.  Pet birds always seem to mature sexually faster than aviary ones. They seem be going through the "motions" at the moment are they doing everything else like looking for a nest area etc? It takes time and practice to learn how to land where he has to land for mating without hurting the female with his claws and the way he lands he will be aware of that also tricky for her to maintain her balance with him on top and also being accepted for mating ..... you can't just practice this kind of thing with anybody

Time and patience and things will be what they will be when they are ready and supposed to be that way :)  they may eventually have a successful mating and nesting and they may not but either way they will always have each other and be totally bonded and in love :)  you have done a brilliant job letting them come to the stage they have forever may it continue

ohhh thank you thank you thank you.....and they are shameless...they do such private things right next to me....

Well i have been following your advise and reduced petting the hen...It was really hard almost impossible to completely stop it (i know i shouldnt) although i tried...She would always "hear" me getting back home from work every afternoon and she would always scream loudly  untill i get to their room... immediately, she flies on my shoulder bending her head down for a scratch...i always give her a tiny ammount of scratching and then i also call for the male to come and join us... so he flies on my finger,  i then  put the hen onto my fingers too, telling the hen: "look my beautiful girl he is your man, not me...be nice to him"....I really can not explain it it seems a bit silly but now every time she flies on me, he flies too and they pet each other while both are on my fingures without having me asing for it......its Like they understand that i want them to be loving and tender to each other and they want to show it to me while they are on me....Maybe it is nonsenses but if only i could record this you could tell..

About the nesting behavior...ive seen the female trying to find corners behind shelves or to dark and isolated spots and sits there like waiting for something there...and immediately the male flies there too and thay do voices and whispers but only for a some minutes..this had happened only 2-3 times in the past and only while they are out of the cage...while they are inside the cage ive never seen something alike, actually i dont even know what "reads" like nesting behavior inside the cage...the space there is limitted :(

i really really really want them to build a strong relationship...i dont care if they become distant with me (actually i do but i understand it)... i was so happy yesterday watching them doing that....happy and relieved..frankly it still is hard to express my feelings...it would be a lie if i claimed that i dont want their babies and help them start a family but at this point i just want them to be "bonded" and love each other for ever...

When the male got his wings down and kept trying get on the hens back, it looks like she doesnt enjoy it at all..and she raises her foot to stop him? Is that a STOP? but then she keeps going towards him again and again asking for "kissing"...I know he likes her a lot....She is my biggest worry....Remember i was frightened that she might mate with me instead of him...but she wants both and seems like he "undo" and "outdo" me? :)
