Hello One And All

do not forget the vegies and dandelion leaves are still good at the moment before the first frost and not been picked from a roadside or been sprayed like parks and community gardens (no Pestersides

Hi Michael, welcome to you and sweetie! She is absolutely gorgeous and it's lovely to know she has found a good home with you and your wife.

Sometimes a parrot is free, sometimes so expensive your eyes water, but they are all worth every penny!

You get many many years of making a relationship like no other, and so much happiness, fun, pride, satisfaction, and love, that it cannot be valued in monetary terms really :)

I completely agree, the thing is it's not the money she was destined for a bad life from house to house n that's not fair we are well chuffed with her even if we did pay "to much" if I do say so my self but I'm more than happy with her, managed to get a few better pics too with the help of some fruit

Its not that you paid too much as their is no price for love well I cannot talk as I paid over £5000 for one of my birds.  yes that's the year of birth

Just a word of warning about her cage... those arched tops that open, well sometimes they can fall back closed with a bang that scares the bird or even hits it and hurts it!

I had the exact same cage for my galah and it's a good cage if you're aware of the issues with the top. I don't want to scaremonger but birds have also managed to open the top and had it fall back while trying to climb out, resulting in the poor things getting trapped by the neck and hanging themselves. Just make sure to use a padlock or something when it's closed for the night, and make sure to always put a LONG perch between the two arched parts to keep them apart at full distance when its open (broom handle cut to size with deep notches does the trick)

She's very lovely, I just wanted to warn you so you can protect her from accidents :)

kerinsian, your right. I have over looked this. I'll be locking the cage shut and I think I might get a perch made to hold the doors steady at work in the morning.

Good warning about the top of the cage My Bobbie I found hanging stuck by the top doors I was lucky to of saved him if they are closed them put an extra lock on them if they are open then find a way to secure them apart fro just putting a perch across.

Kerinsian  is spot on  right  about the top openers. We ourselves don't use a perch across the top, but we do have two dog lead clips on each opener holding em back from slamming down   .

Full marks to you for getting this little bird out of a bad situation

Hello and welcome to the forum from me and my flock

That is a beautiful bird you have there :) I hope you don't mind but i have popped one of your photo's up as your avatar on site.

We have the open top cage and if the perch is inserted correctly to hold it open, it doesn't budge. Never had a problem with ours.

Me either, apart from one time when the one that came with it had shallow grooves and babybird managed to nibble one end and she went down with it when the whole thing collapsed! I bought a new broom handle and made a new one with deep grooves. It was her favorite p!ace to perch, she would dance up there often :)

Hi Michael and welcome do hope you enjoy your stay with us from Shirley x Scooby Doo x Tom . Isn't monkey nuts not healthy for birds or parrots sorry it's what i have learnt from the forum .

I am always having perches fall off Harry and Tommy's cage tops, they just chew the ends, luckily they are flat top "Lolly" cages

i have had a perch made for the top of the cage and a pad lock for the doors when closed.

she really likes it and we are making progress.meven sharing food now. so things are moving on nicely.
