Hello Fellow Feather Hearts

Hi everyone, I've just come across this forum and signed up. It has been a while since I've been part of a parrot forum as the last one I was on got taken over by a commercial setup and became an online store rather than a community chat. I'm nursing a broken heart after losing my Timnay Beerbul recently at an estimated age of 35-40 years out of which he'd been with me for more than a decade. Beerbul was a rescued parrot and the effort of bonding built a good chunk of memories for me and hopefully for him as well. So, while I find my way into the life of my next feathered blessing who will have to be a new home searcher or rescue candidate I thought I'd spend some virtual time with your flocks... Hearing stories, learning new things and hopefully making some friends. I'm based out of sunny Suffolk!

hey Zak and welcome to the forum :)  am so sorry you lost your boy he'll be flying free with the flock, your going to love it here :)

Hey Zak  :welcome:

Sorry to hear about  Beerbul.

Thank you for your thoughts... It hadn't struck me till I read Lou's post "...flying free..." That I actually feel satisfied that he doesn't have to put up with an unnatural world anymore. By the time he took me into his life his wings were too damaged to fly, he had toes missing and had plucked himself to within mm of his skin. But he had personality and attitude. He was rescued in Johannesburg and made it to the UK with me. Lived here, was a part of our family to welcome the birth of my children. He was the first bird they knew and I was amazed at how naturally gentle he had always been with them... I never taught him that. He died in December and whilst I couldn't express myself enough my children's tears said it all. He will be missed but I have so many stories about us that he'll live on through them forever. Being a part of his life was a blessing in itself, he's taught me a lot!

they totally change your life don't they, magical creatures and companions, its lovely to hear about him xx

Hello and  welcome Zak well you have joined a friendly lot of parrot slaves whom are always willing to help and support each other.  it was sad to hear about beerbul maybe you will find a new partner to help you over this sad loss.  you are welcome to post about him and some of the stories you can tell us with photos as we have a memorial section where birds flying free over rainbow bridge have there memories remembered

Hi Zak and  :welcome: ...so,sorry to hear that your dear Beerbul has joined the flying high flock over at the Rainbow Bridge...we lost our dear Tommy back in August...so can understand the gap in your family.

You're very welcome here and we are a friendly bunch of parrot slaves and we talk about our flock members and help, one another our with issues that arise and share our knowledge of what works and what doesn't...and we like seeing piccies and videos of what the feathered ones get up to.

Zak, what wonderful story, I think when you go through difficulties like that with a creature, the bond is greater and makes it all the harder when they pass away.

Hi Zak and :welcome: to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about Beerbul but he is still watching you, rest assured. It is not a requirement to own a parrot on here, just to have a love of parrots. Take your time, have a look around and if you have any questions, just ask.
