Hello everyone

hi and thank you,
great tip regarding the Debyan and nuts they may like, i think storing correctly is the same for most bird food like seed and nuts.
The lady who she is with at the minute told me that she likes to chew and she also tries to pinch any food that you are eating . She is very friendly and apparently loves sitting on your knee :D

Just a word of warning so to speak. The bird may be very friendly with the current lady but this doesn't always carry on. They have their own personalities and may love the person they are currently with but may hate someone else. Likewise they may hate the person they currently live with but love the next one.

Unfortunately for my partner mine just hate everyone but me and that doesnt look to be changing anytime soon 😂 He's ok unless he gets too close, to them or me when they are out.

I am a great believer of first impressions count when it comes to our parrot friends. so find out the birds favorite food and make sure you have some to offer straight away.

yes i understand exactly what you mean , i am looking at it in a way that if the lady decides to keep her then great but if she can't and needs a new home i am willing to take her on and care for her. Like i said in an earlier post, if the lady does keep her i will be on the look out for a bird that needs re homing.

it is very unfortunate that she is only a year old and she is on her second , could possibly be third home already, she needs some security and needs to be able to bond with someone properly .

I hope it works out either way and I'm sure you will be a welcome voice here if you do take on a parrot. Derbyans are magnificent birds - the 'macaws of Asia' if you will....

The lady who she is with currently is great with her, she is like me an animal lover lol she has an aviary for her budgies, her husband keeps fish , she's got a tortoise , a canary , chickens :D and she looks after peoples dogs when they go away . she only has one dog at a time or two if from the same family . This is her worry though, once the lockdown is lifted she will start having boarders again so she will not be able to let her out freely to do what she wants and said it will be unfair on her :( and she hasn't got another room she could use.

I have two budgies - Buzz and Woody, i used to have a rabbit called Farley who lived to a great age , he was lovely . I have 3 cats Misty, Sherbet and Treacle who are all now 13 and 14 years old , i have had them from kittens , sherbet was 6 months old from cat protection when i got him. Of the 3 of them 2 i rescued ( when i have a bird by the way the cats will not be in the area he will be kept like my budgies aren't) i also have 2 Cavachon dogs, they are very friendly small dogs but i do not let my birds out around them . i will post some pics of my animals, i have another room which is a garage conversion so have bricked the door up and put a window in so i have plenty of room for my birds ;)

here's some of my pets - my dogs, do i need to put these in another part of the forum by the way?

looks like a great family, all I have is a few birds, some spiders plus a few fly's to keep the spiders fed and most likely a few nits in my hair :risas3: :risas3:
