i have been told hammocks are no good for your parrots. does anyone else give their parrots a fleece to sleep in.

I use Hammocks and the only thing is you must keep a close watch on the conditon, if it gets damaged by your birds then it should be replaced

The issues/risks with using material ....
Lose threads .... long threads that the bird can get tangled by the foot or head from, shorter threads that they may bite, fray and I jest.

Material... birds can tend to preen the material as they would do their feathers, they ingest fibres from the cloth and this caused impacting of the crop or stomach.

hi thank you for your response, i make the fleeces, they are non fraying, i use them for the guinea pig fleece liner for the cages and the chinchilla, so they are safe. the parrots have had the fleece in thier cage for nearly 3 years, but someone told me it will trigger hormonal problems with having the fleece, as its nice cosy and dark, so it will introduce them to nest. i was wondering if anyone has any problems like this.
