First Egg

My little dino has laid her fist egg. She is 11 years old and not a breeder bird (I have no experience and don't think it's a good idea for me to do it, besides she's an only bird though not the only pet as we have a small dog and a cat). I have absolutely no place to bed her down early to discourage laying, and am willing to let her keep her litt;e eggs until she loses interest, in the hopes that allowing her to keep her clutch will discourage her from laying more. I know nutrition right now is essential and I have that handled, but what should I do about the eggs? Somehow just letting them rattle about on the floor of her cage doesn't seem correct. What would be appropriate nesting material, and does she need a box? I fear her cage won't handle anything heavy. she has demolished the sheet I kept over her cage, yanking it through the bars into a corner and tearing at it. It had been a daily battle of the sheet, with her pullimg it in and me removing it a couple of times a day. In hindsight I should have realized what was happening and prepared sooner. Any advice?

Yes best just to leave the egg until she loses interest, could you put a cardboard box with scrunch up pape rin so it doesn't rattle around the cage, I guess she will likely lay more, I am unsure how many make up a clutch for Hahns but I am sure our memebrs will be along with more advice.

Hi, hahns clutch can be up to four eggs however every bird has its own number it's happy with. If you take away eggs then she will keep laying so leave the eggs as Diana said until she decides it's a pointless exercise in sitting them that way she should come out of breeding mode until the next cycle starts next breeding season. Just make sure she gets plenty to eat and drink whilst sitting by offering or placing bowls next to the chosen nesting site.

To add to the above, do you have liquid calcium? Is there a calcium source in the cage?

If not add in a cuttlefish or one of those calcium perches and get some liquid calcium on hand just in case.

But leave her with the egg as removing them will just encourage her to lay to replace the ones she's lost.
