Falling off perch through the night

Thanks everyone, we are going to go and be with her tomorrow... and say goodbye.
There have been many tears, and both of my children have volunteered to sacrifice multiple body parts and donate their livers if only it could save her...

We are heartbroken. Xxx

Ah bless Aku, I am so sorry hun. Just be absolutely sure before you agree that is all I have to offer. My boy had liver issues and was very poorly but he came home, stayed eight days at the vets. They gave him Milk Thistle and antibiotics with a feed. x

Thanks everyone...We were going to go be with her, to comfort her while she went... (& my son was going to interrogate the vet re other options) and so the children could say goodbye... but the vet called this morning... she collapsed... they put her on oxygen and anaesthetised her to keep her comfortable, but her heart failed and she died before I got the message and could set off...
My course mentor has sent me home... I am a wreck. We are going to miss her so much. My son kept saying how unfair that we got so little time with her...

Thank you all so much for your support, advice and sympathy. Xxx

my heart goes out to you hun I am so sorry :crybaby2:I hope all our loved and lost ones greet her and show her the way to rainbow bridge? Fly free sweet Aku loved and lost but never forgotten :heart1: I am so sorry that she came to you so late, she would know you loved her hun.

Still go to see her if you'd like to though? They should be able to advise re a individual cremation which is what I had for my Plum x

That is what I have said to the children... Aileen was calling her, and they're together again now. It helps to think that.

Her body is home now, she seems peaceful, like she's sleeping, the vet and nurses said how much she had earned a place in their hearts, and in her final moments, she was comforted by people who I believe cared for her... we have held and stroked her... and said our goodbyes, even though she has already gone, it helped...
We are going to miss her so much... she was so extraordinary... is it okay though that having loved and lost her, my husband and I are both thinking we would like to adopt/ buy another African Grey... continue my Grandmother's tradition... I know the children feel the same...

Of course it is okay for you to give a home to another parrot. It will definitely be loved and well cared for with you xx

Yes hun it is alright! I lost my Plum and just a few weeks later found Rubes, I like to think my boy guided me :heart1:

There are one or two good charities out there and Greys come in often, you would have some idea and some info as the bird is assessed before adopting out. I would always say adopt rather than buy. I have three here that have been rehomed last year with me. I love them all. Be pleased to help, message when ready hun.

I am pleased Aku was passed to you and your family, It gave you all the chance to see the love they can give, something your Nan understood. it is surprising how quick they can get us to love them and even though your life together was so short Aku soon was accepted as part of your family, I am pleased you will look for a new member to join you again and carry on your Nans tradition and I think that is fate, your Nans passing and allowing Aku in your heart was most likely her wish, you had her long enough to count so Nan wanted her back as she had completed her task and won your hearts :heart1:
