Egg Laying Problems

she will be naturally protectice of the eggie invaders i wonder when you say "we" is it perhaps your partner or somebody else that she's decided is her chosen mate? Either which way if her interest is starting to head towards things like a tassle or other things she's got the idea that the eggs are not gonna hatch she will have been listening out for sounds from inside them and tiny movements from within naturally there are none.

i got quite good at the sneaky cleaning i had a lot of days to practice lol i used to just peg a tea towel to the side of the cage and hold it up like a screen so Henni couldn't see me cleaning lol

fingers crossed she's thinking its time to "abandon ship" when mine did she just got off had a look walked away from them looked back and that was it :dntknw:  you will know when she is ready to give them up as she wont come out rush around and dash back in it will be more deliberate the should i or shouldn't i kind of thing.

You are right DizzyBlue, as soon as she came it was obviously my husband's bird, he is away though 4 out of 5 weeks working. She is left with me the rest of the time and that is OK she says, but as soon as he comes home I would be better, in her mind, to move out.

She only has the 1 egg now but is still nesting, will just see what happens in the next few days.

I thought I would update on Harry - the final egg accidentally broke yesterday, honest!  I was fed up of the disgusting state on the cage bottom, it just was not healthy.  By bed-time she had realised everything was over and today we had a good sterilization of the cage.  Harry had been out in the sun but seems to be itchy, to be honest I am not surprised so have started spraying and tomorrow hoping she will have a bath.  Thank you everyone for your help and fingers crossed no  eggs again for a while.
