Does Anyone Have One Of These?

I don't have a working oven/cooker, so usually rely on my Actifry (with Ri out of the room etc) as I know these don't have Teflon or PTFE or PFOA.

Well, have just broken my second one in two years, so am looking at getting something different. Was just wondering if anyone has this (in the link). I have emailed the company to see if it is safe - but not heard back yet. The oven itself is stainless steel, but am wondering about Teflon in the motor - so thought I'd see if anyone has one.

Looks similar to the one I use, mine make is VonShef, all usually come out the same factory, just a different name. Mines not a fan assisted or nor does the one look in your above link. So should not contain any motor, just the heating elements like you get in a grill.

This is a link to the one that I use, I'm happy with it and to date I've not had any birds dying on us as a result of using it.

Not sure whether the baking tray it comes with is Teflon coated.
It's been so long since I used an oven. What do you all use for baking trays? I have no idea (have taken my stupid pills today). :confundio1:

Yes if it states PTFE and PFOA free then it’s OK..
No F in it! LOL that’s compounds which release the poisonous fluorine gas.

Thank you @TomsMum . I always have to get a second opinion, as I very rarely trust my own judgement - 'specially if I'm having a fuzzy day. x

Huge apologies for my ongoing bakeware saga.
Just got an email back from the manufacturer saying that the included tray is NOT non stick. But they didn't answer whether it included any PTFE or PFOA, or tell me what it is made from. Is PTFE and PFOA only in non stick? I've emailed them again but it could take days for a reply. I rang them and they didn't know. In fact she said "Has this been proven that it can affect birds, as you are the second person today to enquire about it and we've never heard about it before".
Although I have ordered other trays - this included one would be useful as another shelf in it.
Sorry again - I know how boring I am. ;)

@Rain not boring and it is a very important topic

The (trade marks acknowledged) “Teflon” type of non stick coatings, of which there are many other brand names contain PTFE - our arch enemy as bird keepers ....... most also use PFOA which is a coating which helps stick the non-stick coating to the pan or bakeware.

Another type of non-stick coating is the ceramic type, which in general tend not to be an issue for us with our birds, but it is always best to check that they are quoted as PFOA free as well, incase a manufacturer is using that layer to help the ceramic layer adhere to the pan/bakeware.

If the manufacturer says that the tray with the oven isn’t non stick, then it’s likely that it’s just a metal tray, or enamelled, in which case it won’t have PTFE/PFOA included.

It would be really helpful not just to us birdie peeps, but to anyone with a human respiratory issue, and/or anyone keen on environmental issues for manufacturers to clearly state what stuff is in their products.

It would also help with mis-information too...I saw a post elsewhere this morning saying that Scotchgard (3M trademark) is dangerous. Well it used to contain PFOA, but the product was discontinued quite a few years ago, due to environmental impacts. The product that is produced since it’s relaunch does not contain PFOA.

    Thank you. x
It's so annoying that even the manufacturers don't seem to know, when I contact them.
The tray, as you can see in the pics in my first post, is a heavy black tray, which is why I thought it was coated in non stick.
Guess I'll just have to keep waiting and having beans on toast, till my other trays arrive.

Just an update, as I finally got an email back today.
Apparently - "the included baking tray has an enamel coating so it is PTFE, PFOA and Teflon free". Just in case anyone wanted to ever get one of these mini ovens.
It's handy to have it as a spare, but I'm fine using my glass and stainless steel trays for now.
