Update on Bird Flu as of today the flu restrictions have been lowered to medium alert and it is hoped that on 31sh March restrictions about keeping birds covered and locked in will be eased but things like foot dips and keeping captive birds food and water away from access by wild birds as part of the biosecurity will remain essential.

"Latest situation
19 March 2021: The risk of avian influenza to both wild and kept birds has reduced to ‘medium’. The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) requiring enhanced biosecurity will remain in force but Wednesday 31 March 2021 will be the last day poultry and other captive birds will need to be housed (housing restrictions end 23:59 31 March 2021). Bird gatherings are still prohibited. High standards of biosecurity remain essential as infection may still be present in the environment."

Bird Flu update ......... and what an update!!! Still trying to get my head around it
So it seems that as of midnight tonight you can allow your flock members out..... sort of
Food water etc must be inaccessible to wild birds and also protected from their faeces. Keep biosecurity in place ie foot dips etc.
Now this is where it gets complicated..... they have added things to the Avian influenza Protection Zone which is the whole of England and all keepers of birds be they pet or otherwise ..... like fencing off standing water, ducks and geese are not allowed to be with chickens.... No birds can have contact with neighbouring birds .....

Go figure if you have a couple of pet chickens, a duck or a goose and other bird species in your back garden it is going to be a maze of meshing keeping them apart and also keeping wild birds out of ability to contaminate their areas

I kinda got it but they make it so complicated to understand that the average person wanting a quick answer will not bother to read it all and just go "O f"*K this" DEFRA don't help themselves.
