Bluey had third birthday in January this year, not sure when she started to talk, she was passed on between houses I know she learnt a lot at her last home from another parrot who lived there but some noises she picked before she was there, in here she only learnt to say tut tut ( from my friend daughter) Bluey must be in right mood to talk but she whistles a lot, our other ringneck is not great with talking or whistling, she can say hi but it’s not clear at all and she tries very hard to mimic Bluey’s wolf whistling, occasionally she manages to do it right, both of mine for some reason prefer veggies in bigger pieces so they can pick them and hold in their foot, absolute favourites are chilli peppers and peppers in general ( just not the green ones) carrot, butternut squash, sweet potato, sugar snaps, green peas… Blu likes broccoli but she prefers stalks more than florets while Bluey doesn’t care which part of broccoli it is she will eat it all...Blu in general is more fussy but it’s our fault, when we got her my boyfriend was on furlough and he basically spoiled her so now I have parrot who likes leafy greens in form of smoothies ( no milk water instead)which she gets in small cup when she is out of the cage
( I know it’s a bit ridiculous but I lost the battle… he taught Bluey same so now I have two parrots excited for gloomy green mixture in espresso cup) did you try to hang veggies in her cage on stick? both of mine go crazy for okra when we hang it and in general veggies hanging on foraging stick keep them occupied, they like sprouted beans and sprouted sunflower seeds, they eat other sprouts too but not so enthusiastic, it’s good to offer different things in different forms you never know what might be favoured…Actually when we got Blu we used to do chop for her just mostly with few veggies which we knew she was eating in her previous home and we were slowly adding some other things to it, Roz is so right about reinforcing other behaviours before screaming starts it works, but takes time to get there
