Thank you Michael, I have heard quite a few horror stories about birds getting caught up in cotton ropes so thought sisal would probably be the way to goSisal is safe to use, cotton dose not spilt or break easy and can get caught around your bird
We use chain to hang our perches from the ceiling.
I drill a hole (or two) into the ceiling and insert a raw plug, then screw in a large cup hook. Then you can hang a chain from it. We use plastic chain from a parrot supply or you can use metal chain, but we cover our metal chain with sisal rope.
In the image below, we use a combination of plastic piping, chain and "D" Quick links
Please note if drilling into the ceiling of a building built 2000 or earlier, take precautions as Artex and plaster may contain asbestos even thou the amount is minuscule.
We also use chain, and have a few metal hooks in place around the room. We are going to be getting some thick sisal rope and hook that in between too, so they have more climbing areas.

I live in quite an old building so that may be an issue. I was thinking about maybe getting a wall bracket to hang it from instead of drilling into the roof just incase i havent quite decided what I am building although I have a rough idea. Was going to screw some willow branches together to get the shape i wanted and attach some sisal rope to each corner and hang it up. Still not quite sure though but ill be starting it this week
Yeah i was thinking of using something like the kind of bracket used for hanging baskets. Im going to use willow for the main part of it and either sisal or chain to hang it or maybe a combination of both. Will be easier to decide what im doing once I get started. I was making tree stands for other people after receiving quite a bit of interest. I kind of got a bit disheartened as there are so many negative people on social media that just respond to things for the sake of being nasty because they have nothing better to do with their day I like making them though, keeps me busy and its quite theraputic. I can see my flat turning into one massive parrot play area Waiting on adopting another bird which im really excited about so it will have plenty to play with when it moves in too which will be greatYou could try an hanging basket wall bracket or you could make a free standing frame as shown on this site, see the slide show number 48
Perches and Playstands, a Phoenix Landing Presentation
Our Companion Parrots spend 99% of their lives standing on their feet, so providing them with a variety of perching options is critical for their physical health. Playstands are perching areas outs…abirdsbestlife.wordpress.com
