I have taken on Conner a Hahns ten days ago, he was Hatched in march 1979, He was not a house bird but mainly lived in an aviary, I was told he will bite and attack and this I found to be true at first, well giving I wanted to build up trust and a relationship I started training him from the third day spending two hours a day one to one spread out over the day. normally 10 to 15min sessions. Finally got him to calm down and not wanting to take a chunk out of my finger or arm last Thursday. well things have gone in leaps and bounds since then and now he is calm and even lets me rub his neck and belly. the problem is that along with many of my flock members he just loves being on me. He is a good talker, I expected it to take over a month to get him to just accept me and the other flock members, but he just ignores the other birds. Being he had some but little human contact and was very cage protective I am pleased that he has found and learnt to trust and be with humans. Even the method of training has changed as I can now do my training session for a longer time ad he trains with my other flock members, Conner I train with Gilbert, Lola, Bella, and Malcolm. I will post photos later as I have to go through them as most may show me with out my nose on. I am using full spectrum lighting when I train you may notice two budgies that I am starting to train in the travel cage, these are being trained at the moment to recall and accept the hand and are going to Folkstone as part of my companion birds for the elderly. Lola is being trained to accept other birds around and not pluck other birds feathers out but I will post about her progress later, she did start to pick on Sylvester the parrolet but he bit her (not badly) but it soon stopped her antics.
 
I am saddened to announce of Conner's passing, he became very close to my young Gilbert and would sleep with him or me every night. he was an amazing macaw whom I took on with the knowledge he will not have long to live owing to his age. It was such a pleasure to have got to know him and his cheeky ways, fly free little one you will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Conners passing. He certainly lived a long life and hopefully a good one too! Im sure he enjoyed your company in the final stages of his life. RIP Conner ❤️
