As an addition to our pinned topics in this section of the forum...
I'm linking to a helpful guide published by the World Parrot Trust

https://www.parrots.org/images/uploads/Common-Household-Poisons-for-Parrots.pdf

Which looks at Risks around the home including common toxins that we may find or be using and also a good list of plants that are considered toxic or that may have toxic parts.

Always good to re-familiarise ourselves with these, and think about what we may have lurking in our cleaning cupboards!

As the publication says - seek advice from your avian vet if you suspect your bird may have been exposed to a toxic substance.

Thank you @TomsMum, great info! :)

I have a little story to tell about complacency! I had a couple of house plants on the window sill, the other side of the room to Plum's cage. Never in SEVEN years did he show any interest in them until one day I came into the room and he was looking very pleased with himself and my shredded house plants. :yikes: I didn't even know what they were, had them for donkeys years. After a lot of Googling and a call to the vets it was deemed OK. PHEW! Look after your blood pressure and avoid these scares please! Your vet won't think you are crackers either LOL :)

Hi there, just joined as I used to read but was always soo busy. I have a mitred conure and he is going on 29 years old. I am very cautious with everything I use around him and I wanted to ask if anyone has used Stay Away Product for deterring mice. I Can't use traps as I cannot stand to kill anything but I was hoping to see if anyone has any sugesstions on this issue. Thanks!

Hi Sassy and welcome to the forum :)
Is this product one of the sonic ones?
I have used the sonic ones …. they didn't upset any of my birds but then again the mice weren't bothered by them either and it didn't do anything to get rid of the little perishers

Hang on found the product on Amazon …. https://www.amazon.co.uk/stay-Repellent-Control-Pouches-Natural/dp/B077SYRT9G
Is it this one?
Ingredients listed are cedarwood, spearmint, and rosemary essential oils on the other part of the listing it says corn cob and sunflower oil and keep away from children …..

Edited to add ... their website says it has Cedarwood oil, rosemary oil, spearmint oil, corn cob, almond oil, & sunflower oil. Keep away from children and pets. https://www.earthkind.com/product/stay-away-mice/

Thank you Tasha for finding the site, I did not have time to search, keep away from children and pets so its not some thing I will use near birds as the smells and vapour may even affect them @sassy . have you had mice in your home? love to hear and see photos of your conure
