There are an awful lot of bird bugs and diseases around! Are wild birds including parrots susceptible to these too or is it just a captivity thing?

Just got home went into the room for a chat with the vet first.
She said there going to do an Xray to check the pic to see if anything is going on...if nothing shows on the xray she is going in with a scope to check for aspers. He's going down around 3pm and she will ring just before they take him down so im handy on the phone if she needs me.
We then got to see him  :applause:  we walked round the corner and he was on a branch behind a towel so i gave him a whistle as i always do when i walk in from being out...his head shot under the towel to have a look and did his spongebob theme reply!!! (heart melt straight away) Nurse said that was the first time he had done a proper whistle since being there  :animated-parrot-image-0025: ...we stood next to his cage talking to the main vet and he wondered round the cage (the long way round  ) when he got to us he demanded his tickles! by doing a beak tap on the bars as he always does  :rose:  and he stood there for the entire time we was there getting tickles and kisses (mrs stopped tickling once as she was listening to vet and cody woke her up with a nip lmao) so he had both cheeks being tickled for 20 mins and loved it!
He was still slow to walk and movements were slow but looked stronger than when we took him there so thats a plus for the op!
Scarlett...hope you sell nutra berries according to them he loves em.

His last crop feed was yesterday so eating a little on his own but did say they will give him a crop feed when he wakes up from op to give him a boost.

Nicki white cell count was 1.2-1.4

Come on Cody you can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sound so much better, knew you'd feel happier after seeing him. Well, whatever you are dealing with, you can see an improvement in him so that's good. Fingers crossed it is nothing too sinister.

The vets were fantastic never rushed us at all when we was with him.....

I did nikki she said it was on her list along with aspers but thought it was the unlikeliest of the 2....she hoping its just a nasty infection thats made his liver enlarge and she can get him all sorted....the X-Ray will reveal all and im dreading the phone call to say shes starting

Awwww. It does sound promising if he perked up when you went in and even giving your wife a nip is good... Well, for him maybe lol. Fingers crossed they find out what's wrong and can sort it out.

We are all rooting for you Cody!

It must hurt him to talk/whistle as his whistle did'nt sound right and he never spoke or whistled for a day here and not at the vets....im swaying towards it being aspers hope im wrong but ive prepared myself for her to say that.

The vet did say she has just treated an african grey with aspers after 12 weeks of medication hes now swinging round the cage and back to itself!

That`s really good news.

So the white blood count is low, but not as low as in Nikkis birds case

Nutriberries? Only every single flavour possible in stock :)

Now once these tests are done, tell them you want him home. Monitor his weight and he`ll eat more back home with you guys, as you saw he perked right up, but that will soon change if he gets depressed in there

Tascha...you HAVE to read everything that comes out, got to fill that void in your head with something hey? Love you really xxxxxxx

Harley has been scoped down the throat and into the air sacks and it doesn`t actually take long, it`s a tiny camera like keyhole surgery and it usually goes in sort of just behind the leg low down in the body xx
