Carry cage for echo

So we're taking echo to the Avian vets soon and I need to get her a carry cage.

Are the backpacks any good that I've got a picture of below?

If not could I have some suggestions? :D

Have a Celtei Back Pack which has proved good tbh, the one above seems it would be dark when closed up. Have a look at Celtei for comparison and I think you will see. Is a small cage/crate no good hun? My vet cage is a small dog crate (from Stafford Show many years ago). Worth lookng to see what your local pet shops have as some second hand ones cleaned up are just the ticket tbh.

Came up with several options by searching for carriers for parrots.

even a cat carrier can be used for transporting, the one you are looking at is most likely for small birds as it dose not state the size

We use cat cages when the birds are a suitable size but only because we already have them, any lightweight mesh cage would be fine. I found the backpacks etc rather expensive but then I have a few birds.

It has the size a bit further down, but I don't know what's a suitable size

I've seen a couple of people say cat carrier on this thread, so you have to retrofit a perch or will she be okay for 30min to an hour journey without a perch?

I thought cat cages were a standard size but the one on the advert seems small. Mine are approx. 16" x 14" x 14" only approx. as I do not have one inside to measure.

there are advantages in using the plastic cat boxes unlike a cage they cannot injure them selves by getting there wings caught in the bars if they get startled on flap. you cannot leave them in it for too long but its great for vet visits. easy to wash out as they are plastic,

I have both the plastic cat carries (bought from charity shops £6 each!) easily cleaned also have a travel cage too bought for approx £26 on-line I think mine came from Scarletts.

Thanks for the information and reassurance, I'll get a cat box.. Going to be fun getting her in there lol

She goes for her 1st vet visit on Sat 5th October. We're going to the Northwich place that everyone recommends, going to be fun getting her in the box and I hope he knows how to deal with parrots that don't like their tootsies being touched because he's going to trim her nails lol

Think I'm going to go with this one.. It's roughly the size that kendra listed but also collapsible for easy storage in our little flat.. There's customer pictures of it with large cats happily curled up in a ball in them so should be big enough for echo and plenty of visibility for her to look out

 looks ok but just check the material at the front is not cloth as your bird may chew through it they say mesh but that could be cloth or metal

Hmm good point, it does look cloth.. However I don't think she's one to chew through something like that.. She's not much of an explorer.. I think we'll just have to try out and and keep an eye on her, she'll be supervised the whole time as one of us will be driving the other will be looking after her etc
