Yes i was reading and looking at sprouting seed , i am always reading up for info on budgies . I have watched so many videos and recently on parrots , i look at a lot of sites to get info even though some can give you varying info or opinion. I will deffo look at giving them more grasses , they love the tonic seed .

I sprout their normal seed I buy. Bucktons budgie tonic. Starts sprouting within 24 hours. Currently got some in the garden underneath a bird bath for the wild birds, if it survives that long lol. But it's growing quickly.

If the seed you are using does not sprout then it isn't fresh and isn't a good mix to be feeding them eitherway. I also batch test new seed mixes and periodically test any seed I buy.

yes i have read that if it doesn't sprout it means the seed isn't good quality or fresh. I am just having a go now at sprouting some , i have rinsed it in a plastic sieve and put in in a container with water to sit for 8 hours but no longer. After 8 hours i am going to rinse again and let the water drip off and suspend it over a pot and cover with a piece of kitchen towel. I will rinse it every 12 hours to stop any mildew forming and hopefully will sprout within 24 to 48 hours . I read that most birds like seed that is sprouted between 24 to 36 hours, that is on the Budgerigar forum so will give it a go.

I wash mine through with acv. I wash mine at least 3 times a day and until the water runs clear each time.

I let mine sprout for a day or so before I start feeding but keep washing it through and letting it sprout. I do mine in big batches though as I have a fair few months to feed so some of mine grows quite big lol.
