Hi is there a minimum amount of sleep a bird should get per night
Thanks I can imagine I’ve got my birds in a separate room and when I sneak up at night to the closed door I can still hear them rubbishing about cage lolI have my lot on 12 dark hours 12 daylight
But you tell this lot it's time for bed ... Yeah I stand more chance of winning the lottery without buying a ticket!
At lunchtime they all have a snooze of their own accord they just roost up and grab 40 winks. At the moment my oldest bird Henni is rummaging around on the bottom of her cage for her favourite toy tractor (don't ask why it's a tractor I have no idea!)
Basically if they feel they need a kip they will and if not then not
Suppose it's being a prey species that means they sleep very lightly rather than like us humans ... They listen out for the predators trying to sneak up on them.
Sick birds and babies sleep a lot... It's a case of knowing what's going on and going from there....
