Bird Safe Cage Cleaner

Hi everyone,
George is getting tamer, but still won’t come out the cage unless I towel him which really stresses him (and me) out and I only do it if I REALLY have to.
So far, because I can’t get him out to clean it without him in, I have only been using boiling water and a sponge scourger to clean his cage, bottom tray and bars at the bottom. This is fine, but there is starting to be a little bit of a smell coming, I don’t know if it’s a mixture of the poo which I’m just wiping away with hot water, or more than likely where he throws un eaten veg down and the hot water is not killing the smell from them.
I’ve seen online that I can make a solution up using some pure lemon juice, bicarbonate of soda and hot water and mix it all into a spray bottle.
My question is, does anyone know if this is definitely safe to use and can I spray it whilst George is in the cage. I will only be spraying it on the lower parts of the cage where he will not be sitting and definitely will not spray it directly onto to him as will do it as far away as possible. I will then get a bowl of hot water to dip the sponge in and rub over everything to wash it all away.
Just after some advice of what you would all do. I’ve never seen him go down the bottom to get it on his feet or his beak, but just incase he suddenly does decide to go walking down there, I’d rather know I was using something safe, so just in case I accidentally didn’t wash it all off, I know it would be safe for him.
Thanks in advance.

Good to hear George is becoming tamer but he will come out if and when he wants to.
I would not worry too much about it, these things can take a very long time .

To be honest the best cleaner to use is F10, there are a variety of options of this available.
I guess you can use the lemon juice, it may be best to spray it directly into the cloth then clean the areas you wish to clean rather than spray it directly . Let's see what others advise.

I alternate between F10 and Johnson's Clean N Safe
The Johnsons stuff is really quite good! Spot of a spray on stuff and within 15 seconds poop and food just slide off with a wipe!
Marley one of our members here uses heaps of it and had mentioned it a while back so thought I would give it a bash ended up quite impressed with it plus its really cheap and easy to get a hold of too :)

Thank you all for your replies.
With the f10 and the clean and safe, could they be sprayed whilst the bird is still in the cage?
I have the clean and safe, but haven’t been confident to use it whilst George is in the cage- even though I wouldn’t spray it anywhere near him, just incase it could harm him

I swear by a product called 'Poop Off' and if I was a rich man I would buy the company, like that Remington man did in the adverts of yesteryear!
