Hi all just a quick question at what age will a amazon be able to breed and lay eggs thankyou!
Hallo and welcome, What species of amazon? Do you have the birds? we love photos
Hi thanks for your reply and it's a yellow crowned it's a few months old it's my first parrot I'm just trying to get as much information as I can cheers!
Will lay eggs From three years old. Doesn’t mean they will be successful...depends on the maturity of both the birds.
The yellow crowned come in three groups, Ochrocephla, Auropalliata and Oratix, Do you have the CITES l paperwork? it should state the species. I take it by your original question you have a female.
No I'm not sure yet going to get dna test asap i get the parrot in a matter of weeks its only young
we have quite a few amazon keepers so please if you have any question ask away, have you had parrots before, have a read on the pinned posts on making your home safe for parrots
from me too.
Yellow crowned amazons are CITES 11
There is an error on the Parrot Magazine listing of CITES1 birds
Which lists Amazona ochrocephala auropalliata as Yellow crowned Amazon....this is yellow naped Amazon...which is CITES 1, as is oratrix which Michael referenced the double yellow headed.
The Parrot Society Listing is also wrong because that doesn’t list the Yellow naped Amazon.
This is the list of CITES 1 psittacidae copied from the CITES site today
Cyclopsitta diophthalma coxeni
Separate names with a comma.
