Hi All.

I was reading a few things and came across a few articles that said give ACV regular once a month or so is good for the bacteria and digestion, now my other hand swears by it for her IBS and I've read a lot about it doing birds good as well and as we have it constantly Braggs mother stuff, just wondering)

Do any of you offer it regularly and if so in what sort of concentration ?

Also any other uses for it (I know cleaning but im an F10 freak, and even more so at he moment, the whole house is sprayed with the stuff :) )

I use it for the chickens a couple of times a week.

I also give it to my budgies once or twice a week aswell, this includes finches etc.

I've given it to the parrots before and always keep it on hand as well as keeping organic chamomile tea on hand for the birds.

Just admit when I get a sore throat or feel a bit low and ill I drink it myself, tablespoon with a tablespoon of honey, hot water and sugar. Tastes vile but it works!

Do any of you regularly put it in the parrot water, i don't mean always but maybe a few days every month or maybe a set course every few months as a preventative ?

I always have cider apple vinegar at home but I do not use it that often with the flock, I have used it on two occasions if one of the flock had been suspected of having a problem or I have lost a bird through unknown reason (until results come back from an autopsy or tests) then I will use it with all the flock with just a small amount in with there water, cleaning wise is its main use,

to be honest, I suspect Bert will just ignore his water with this in, he pretty much ignores everything, even me if I haven't spoke to him for 10 seconds :)

what would be the correct dilution, I've read 5mm to 100mm water for 5 days, Ive also seen 2.5mm per 100mm once/twice a week ongoing.

both seem quite a lot

1 teaspoon full to one pint of water for yeast infections and if they say yuck not having that then add some honey to sweeten and hide the taste
But it is important to know it really is a yeast infection before being slap dash and treating ..... Nothing worse than treating for one thing and it being another

Ah ok! So not something to use as a preventative measure then? I know my mum always used to have a tot each day.. 🤢

I’ve also heard you use it to wash sprouts, same solution and do you let it soak or just make up a litre and use that to rinse ?

I would rather use as a curative than a preventative as yeast infections in the crop should be rarer rather than common
if you ensure all bowls are cleaned daily and food is changed also fresh food disposed of after a couple of hours having been on offer then you shouldn't see yeast infections ... Ok so the odd one sneaks through every now and again if a bird is fighting something else that is going on.

as for washing veggies just plonk them in a bowl of the dilution solution and give it a good dunking and swilling around then a rinse under fresh water if you're somebody with particularly sensitive taste buds ..... My step dad can tell if a cup of tea has been stirred with a coffee spoon but I can't .....

When I'm sprouting seeds for my lot I do rinse it through with acv, or vanodine depending on what I've got on hand. If you so sprout seeds make sure you rinse them through till the water runs clear and do it a couple of times a day.

Hi what sort of mixture do you use to rinse with ACV, like 1mm for 100mm ? I do run water over them for 5 or so minutes 4/5 times a day with a 10-15 minutes rinse evening and morning but I’d like to rinse with ACV before feeding.
