A show or event Especially one with Budgies xAny up and coming what hun?
No, I'm very new to world of birds! Is there one you could recommend please? XHave you joined any Budgie groups/clubs? They would be the ones to know. I would assume probably not until the spring now though?
Thank you xHun I have a Goffins and Rose Breasted Cockatoo and a Conure but no budgies. You would need to seek like minded budgie keepers to learn the info you want. We may have some budgie keepers on later than will help?
Search on our friend Google for Budgerigar Society - they are in Northampton.
Thank you Dizzy Blue ☺Catalina who owns Garden Feathers is a member on here although she doesn't manage to get on much but I know they used to have breeders and shows listed on their website as she attends a lot of budgie shows. http://www.gardenfeathers.co.uk/
Parrot show last of the year I think is this one in Stafford on the 02/12/18 http://www.staffscountyshowground.co.uk/forthcoming-events/12/2018/
EMBBA over at Newark unfortunately was yesterday for the last one of this year next one isn't until March http://www.embba.co.uk/next_sale_dates_7.html
Thank you ☺ I prefer the non show type tbh. Not too fussed on colour. Health and disposition are more important to me.the other thing you will need to think about is what type of budgie do you want? there are 2 distinct 'types' show or exhibition budgies are bred year round (indoors) and are larger flashier birds that are a more impressive physical presence... but they are in my opinion inclined to be rather less intelligent, less lively and less 'hardy' . aviary bred budgies are birds that live out year round and are smaller, slimmer and fiesty. they breed seasonally- ie not in winter!!! they are in my opinion a lot more intelligent and a lot more robust health wise,
both types come in pretty much every colour you can imagine. me I would not recommend hand reared in budgies as its not necessary- as long as you get just fledged they are very easy to tame and the benefits of being parent reared are massive.
So about 8 weeks old is a good age to buy one ?to be honest I always wonder whether the 'hand reared' ones really are as budgies are so very easy to tame if very young , particulary the boys- little hens are more resistant but really at right age they are pretty easy. find it hard to believe anyone would deliberately hand feed a baby budgie (unless an orphan) as its just not needed. main thing is its a very young baby, just weaned- older ones are less amicable to whole thing
Thank you MichaelContact the budgie society they have a midlands group and a register of members your way that breed pet budgies. they do have a web site
Thanks for replying GrahamSorry I can’t help with this one
