African grey female making weird noise

Hi a couple of weeks ago my 18 year old African grey was breathing loudly and her voice sounded as though something was stuck . This went on for about 4 days although in herself she was ok , eating , drinking and talking as usual . Took her to avian vet who agreed her breathing was loud and said he could hear slight noise in chest so said it was a bacterial infection and gave her antibiotics . The breathing returned to normal and all seemed ok until today . Now she is making a noise I can only describe like a hooter being squeezed slightly . She is doing it a lot but once again in herself normal eating , talking and playing . I have heard this noise before on occasions but maybe only once / twice a day sometimes but seems only when she was nibbling her feathers , whereas today it’s even happening when she is sitting still not doing anything and I’ve heard it whilst she eating . Any ideas / advice please

Hello and welcome Julie965, I think your first port of call is back to the vets, see if the antibiotics she was on has cleared up the infection. let them listen to the sound she is making, try to record it to your phone. I wish I could advice more, you could try putting her into a steamy environment like in the bath room with the shower running, this often eases the breathing, until you can get her checked out, I have a small nebuliser that I use with birds that have a breathing problem, I you search for the post "National Geographic's" and click on the link you will see me using it.

Hello Julie, I have to agree best to get avian vet to check her over. Do let us know how she gets on.

Hi all sorry for delay in getting back to you all . Been back to avian vet who checked her over and said all ok . I recorded her making the noise and he said he had never heard it before or has any explanation . He said it’s definately not respiratory. We think she had made these noises a little before she has laid eggs in previous years . She has not displayed any other symptoms of preparing to lay. Normally lays 4/6 eggs ( unfertilised ) between Dec/jan . Maybe hormonal ? Anyway in herself all normal chatting away , playing , eating and pooing normally so we will just observe and be vigilant for any other changes . Thank you all for your replies and help .
