Yes I would say so aswell, We liturely did nothing, when I spoke to the home visit chap, I asked if I could leave my house how we live and anything he didn’t like we’d change, he was more than happy with that.

but then again thinking back, before we even had a home visit, I must admit I did rip out the bathroom and toilet cupboards and replaced with stainless steel ones, Oh and moved my living room around to hide sockets and cables.

Oh and painted my hall and landing and all woodwork and doorways, replaced the painted doors upstairs with natural wood.

so actually reading this back, I really have no room to talk.

yeah, I’m not the person to ask about “over the top” and to this day Bert hasn’t flown and is scared of the wood floor in the hallway so hasn’t left the living room:aplastao::biggrin:
One of my home checks is a virtual one which will be interesting 🤔

I like your style 😂 i have torn apart most of my rooms making sure they are definitely hazard free and that there is no exposed wiring. Gave me an excuse to clean since i had been procrastinating 😂

Sooooo my birds like to land on top of my curtains and poop all over them. Ive been wiping it off but I decided to take them down and put them in the washing mashine to make sure they were cleaned properly. I didnt put them on a high temp but they have shrunk.. Theyre no where near the floor now... And whats worse is the lining didnt shrink so now the front is shorter and the lining hangs down. It looks ridiculous! 😂 I put them back up but whoever does my homecheck is going to probably wonder what that's all about 🤣🤣

I'm sure Bert will be off exploring soon! My birds dont really leave my living room, theyve been in other rooms with me before but they just choose to stay where they are, ruining my curtains 😝

@Tonifrax please don’t go crazy, there are dangers in a home you just need to solve the ones you can to make it as safe as possible. My skirting boards are painted but I didn’t pull them off to pass a home check
Thank you, I just left the shelves where they are and tidied everything so theres no clutter 😊

when doing a home check I like to see the home is lived in just be your self and have your place as you will normally keep it. if there is a problem the person checking will be able to correct things so mistakes do not happen. my way of thinking is if a place is spotless why are they looking to take on a parrot, as they are the most destructive and messy animals you can have in your home, will they be allowed the freedom in the home that they need

Did you say you live in a flat i am not saying anything is wrong with that but do you know how noisy an ammie can be? Hope your neighbours are ok with that 😀
Yeah I know, I always check YouTube to see how loud they can get if its not a bird ive already owned. I only have 2 neighbours, they have pets too but when i mentioned it to them they were ok with it 😊

@Tonifrax l had curtains like that! Spent ages rebuilding them with weights in the hem to try to even it up.... worked ok as long as the cuttain was hidden behind the sofa
That is what I was going to do! 😂 I was feeling really good about having a big clear out and having everything all nice and tidy and then i took them in from outside, hung them up and saw that they'd shrunk 😅 They have quite a large hem so i think ill try to weigh them down and then if that doesnt work take the hem down a bit 🤔 my sofa only hides one 😕

Mine only hid one set too. the long curtains ended up about 6" too short :nut:so we had mismatching floor length curtains in the bay window, but I left the matching ones for the new owners in case they decided to hang them somewhere else

Mine have matching cushions for my sofa so I really dont want to have to buy different curtains 😂 i read soaking them in fabric softener and then stretching them with weights is the way to go... Maybe i can put the curtain pole down further 😂:nut:

Bang them back in the wash on very very cool for a rinse minus the fabric conditioned and minus any cleaning liquid/powder that should wash out any heavy perfumes and then hang them out wet I peg them out sopping wet that should make them kind of stretch out. Personally I took to using cleaning liquids without scent added ones that are for sensitive baby skin Boots do one that is enzyme and fragrance free as does a company that makes Ecover Zero

Most of the cleaning liquids i usually use are fragrance free because i have very sensitive skin. My skin ends up all cracked and bloody even just using regular unscented soap 😕 I will give that a go and see if i can stretch them out a bit 😊
