Thanks - Bournemouth and Christchurch are over an hour away so not ideal - I use Girling & Bowditch for dogs and cats but by their own admission they are not Parrot specialists.
Will give Piddle Valley a call and see as they are only 30m min away
Hi
I am looking for an Avian Vet somewhere around the Dorchester area - If anyone knows of a parrot specialist I would appreciate details.
thanks
Peter
Just a thought on Marine Ply - or any other ply - Ive seen quite a few nest boxes made of ply and they seem to get chewed quite a lot - has anyone got any thoughts on that
Sorry this is almost a whole new question :)
Brilliant - thank you everyone
I am building the inside with untreated 2 x 4 beams so they can chew away at that - it will be internally lined with Aviary mesh so they won't have full access to it - the outside is all marine ply sheeting so that will be fine and they have no way of getting to...
Hi
I'm in the process of building a new aviary - I have an aluminum section flight coming from Rosemead and am building an indoor area for warmth - basically a bespoke wooden shed that will be lined with aviary mesh. Its being built out of untreated 2x4 timber at the moment but I was wondering...
Agreed I spoke to both Avifabs and Rosemead and ended up collecting my Rosemead aviary from the Newark show a few months ago. Was better priced - fit together like a dream - and Rita and Toby love it so much that they have laid 4 eggs. Would highly recommend them for any Aviary / Cage work.
Hi Kev
Sorry to pester you but I was wondering if your shed has any natural light - windows or clear roof - again just covering all bases
Second question is how have the the birds handled the weather lately - are they heated in any way.
Thanks
Peter
Hi Kev
Brilliant pic thanks - that helps a lot - do you have access to the shed from the outside or is the entrance from inside the flight area - I was thinking that it might be convenient to close the birds in either section for cleaning
Thanks - Just chatting about this on here has given me a whole range of new ideas
Im now thinking of 2 12 x 4 x 6.5 flights with a purpose built wooden shed at the end split down the middle to create 2 4x4 enclosures - a door on each side and lined internally with 15g wire
:) I'm sure that...
Hi Marley
Thanks for the info - a rough sketch would be great - at the moment I have costed up 2 sets of a 16 ft x 4 ft x 6.5 ft aviary in aluminium from Rosemead Aviaries at £1400 for the pair - this would have to go on to a concrete base - I was thinking of a 6 inch base with a 6 inch boarder...
Hi Diana
Thanks - I am a member of the Parrot Society - I was thinking of going up to the 1 June show and see what was available if I feel that I'm ready by then - that would give any birds a good chance to acclimatise in an outside aviary while we still have some good weather
@plumsmum - to...
Hi Again and thanks for the input
I have been researching for the past few months and am sure that I am just at the beginning of the learning journey - not planning on jumping in with 2 left feet just yet - I was thinking of building the aviaries and then getting a pair (either proven or...
No I have not this will be the start of a new journey - I bred budgies, finches and cockatiels a long time ago so this will be a new learning experience and I am sure that I will spend a large part of my evenings on this forum begging your collective advice.
Thanks - I had been looking at panels from Rosemead Aviaries so it great to get something to compare to - am still trying to work out how to give them an indoor area so the more options I see the better :)
Hi
I am planning on getting 2 pairs of African Greys with the hope of breeding from them - I have had a pet Grey but never a pair so am looking for some housing help.
At the moment the options I have are 2 x breeding cages 6ft x 3.25 x 3.25 and I could keep these inside or my preferred option...
