It's Bigger Than I Thought Lol

Thats a beauty :-D I'd leave them in, you'd soon hear any kind of disagreement in the night. Start as you mean to go on?

    Need An Answer Quick Please

Oh I'm just catching up, so sorry for the terrible time you have been having. I'm glad Pip is still managing to get by, I hope he keeps improving even if it's baby steps.  Scrambled egg is good for him right now, it's also quite a good medium for 'hiding' other things in. I often add palm...

    Meal Times

I have a routine, but it's more for my benefit that theirs! In the morning before work they get some seed, pellets, a skewer of veg/fruit and foraging nuts in thier cage. In the evening they get cooked veg, pulses, ground pellet and palm extract all mixed together. They get some sunflower...

    Scruffy Tail Feathers

I think the younger more active birds can give their tail feather a bit of a hammering, it can be hard to spray underneath. Do you see him preening his tail much? Maybe he is just lazy :-D

Help ... Information Would Be Good

I don't know for sure, I think the artificial conditions for inddor birds can mess it up a bit. But I see in Autumn (now) and spring that one of mine def gets more hormonal. The other one is the same all the time, never seen a change in his behaviour at all - very odd!

Hope the antihistimines are enough then, and it's not something too serious. Good luck x

    Not The Nicest Subject (Poop)

I keep a spray bottle with a weak F10 solution in it, I spray it on, leave it a few mins and wipe it off - repeat if it's particularly stubborn! I find the sponges you buy to wash dishes with the green scourer sides are pretty good for the day to day cage cleaning.

    The Stand

Very nice stand :-D Well the harness training looks like fun even if it wasn't exactly the plan!

    Velcro Parrot... At Her Convenience!

She's got you under the thumb! Flint is only Velcro parrot when I'm on the phone, he gets a bit turned on and demands to sit on my hand squeaking. If I refuse he goes and does all the things he knows he isn't allowed to do because that means I have to go and remove him I.e he ends up on my hand!

    Been Really Stupid :-(

Aww don't beat yourself up. We all make mistakes. Flint demolished a toilet block once and was totally fine. Gives you such a fright though!

    Television Or Radio?

I think it depends on the bird, neither of mine pay a blind bit of attention to either so I don't bother. But think it might be nicer for a bird in the house on it's own than where they have some company already.

    Hammer Handles

Thanks Julie, I am feeling like a very well rounded, independent 'don't need no man' kinda girl right now

    What Am I Doing Wrong?!

Are you doing it outside the cage? My Flint attacks anything stick or anything I put in his cage while he is there - including my hand! I only do the target training outside the cage, it works much better. My other bird Kipp will do it anywhere, he is all about the treat!

    Hammer Handles

I have the cage top play stand that came with my Montana cages, Flint a Kipp spend a fair amount of time on it and recently I noticed Kipp Sleeping on the metal curved ends at night. I wasn't convinced that was great for his feet so today I picked up a couple of wooden hammer handles from the...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?!

Aww, do you give him a treat when he steps onto your finger and doesn't bite? Advice I've had here, and generally works, reward the good behaviour and ignore the bad. If he bites you say 'no' in a firm voice and then just completely ignore him for a while. I can't cope with the biting very...

    My Heart Has Broken

So many unwanted birds needing homes, if you have love for them then you are worthy. You've paid a high price emotionally but give yourself time before deciding. I learnt so much in a fee months when I met Flint. Stay on the forum and read, you'll get a much more real view and invaluable...
