With the Eclectus foot tapping is a sign of bad diet owing to there slow metabolism and the need for a higher need of fresh veg. not much fruit or seed. you can make your bird grip using it feet in different ways by using perch of different width and using natural branches. He is still young...
The problem with pain relief is your bird will not notice that its injury is causing a problem and there for wants its normal life, you how matter how hard it fills to have your bird caged you must keep to your vets instructions as you do not want to make its leg have further problems.
I use a water filter machine attached to my water supply for drinking waters for myself and the flock, dead against buying water in plastic bottles, we have enough problems with plastic around the world so why add to it. the cost of water in a bottle is in my mind a rip off and is it that...
I have used vasaline with budgies in the past and was just looking up the spot on when you replied, the problem with vasaline is it stops the mites from breathing no harm to the bird but you can block the nostril with the vasaline so I do not use it now
no but it will ease your mind and rule out the possibility that your bird will not have mites after treatment as this is spayed over body but not into face. you will find that many birds do not like being sprayed but once soaked it will bring on the urge to do the rain dance especially with tiels.
@Trum , if you can PM me your address , I will send you a free 150ml of beaphar insecticidal bird spray free of charge to treat your bird in the next post.
Hi I can understand your position but it can be resolved by buying a nest box and setting it at a high point in the living room, I have a pair of ringnecks that is searching for a place to nest in, but in my case they have a few choice's they can make. none in the kitchen.
Hello and welcome, sorry you have had to join us in such circumstances, I do not know the answer but I will tag @DizzyBlue and @Roz whome may be able to help. I am hoping your bird will recover. One important point is medication of any type should only be given at recommended doses
in the wild a young chick will be in a hole and not get direct sunlight until it is ready to leave the nest hole, so giving your bird direct sunlight I do not think will be good for such a young bird. having sun hitting a bird that feathers cannot protect the skin can cause other problems...
I have not used the hand feeding formula you are using So it is important that you read and understand the instructions on the packet religiously, are you syringe feeding at the moment? Syringe feeding can have its own complications and the next goal should be getting your bird to feed from a...
Beautiful Floki, going by the shading of the feathers above the beak i think you have a young male about 21 months to two years old. Ringnecks are my favourite species
the beak is slightly damaged but the beak was getting ready to flake any way, I can tell this by the greyness of the new layer of beak that is now showing, nothing to worry about, if the old layer of beak fell off by its self it would be black and shinny. this is a common thing to happen as...
