i think my bird either got hurt or is sick

Hi, with his skin being red I would agree that it looks like a scratch or graze. A good time to check for any rough edges or sharp bits in the cage or on toys that may be chewed. Also, his beak does look like he's banged it, which would be consistent with his head. Like the others said though...

    Quick hello.

Hi and welcome. We were going to get a Hahns macaw about 12 years ago, but when we went to visit the breeder, she didn't have any clutches that season. We met a baby blue and gold macaw instead and he now owns us, along with his later adopted older sister. Absolutely love them to bits but not...

    Macaw Beak

Thank you! I was messing with settings on Saturday changing stuff trying t to see what happened  I had an idea about an hour or so ago......I swapped the shortcut on my phone to open in Chrome instead of the default Samsung Internet. It's just worked! I got a notification when you tagged...

    Cage renew~ how often?

The latest cage purchase was for our female bg macaw, Bebe. We got her a Rainforest Rio Ara. Not sure of the dimensions of the Nova though in comparison. The Grande Castell that Gary our male bg macaw has, is about 8 years old and has been repaired twice because he's managed to break the bars

    Macaw Beak

Hi, I'm sorry I've only just seen this, I keep getting kicked out off the site so don't get any notifications. Everyone has basically said what I would say also. I was going to recommend Harrisons high potency. Out of interest..... how much do you give him? Just for a reference, ours are...

Hi we are Phil & Diane Bethell along with our Blue Fronted Amazon “Buddy”.

Hi welcome to the forum from us. Just a quick message to agree with the reason for the 8pm noise. Our birds have a 7pm bedtime, and sometimes we're sat with them in their room and don't notice the time if we're reading or watching something. They go from being quiet and chilled to agitated and...

    Lovebird diet

To transition him onto more veg, you can try things like sweet potato, squash, broccoli, green beans for example. These can all be fed raw or cooked. That's a start anyway! There are other threads on here that go into more detail. As long as you NEVER feed him onions, leeks, avocado, mushrooms...

    Hello from Malta

Welcome to the forum from us . You're so lucky to live on Malta, such a beautiful place! We've been a few times and stay in Mellieha Bay. The only pet birds we've seen were the little ones in tiny cages hung up in trees by the horse & carriage stands in Mdina. But you can't judge a...

Sudden tumour, rapid decline leading to euthanasia

I'm so sorry to hear about Charlie. It really is so difficult to see these things at the time. I know it's a common phrase, but it's a true one.... "we've all got perfect vision in hindsight". As has already been said, you did everything you could with the information you had at that point...

    Amazon orange wing

Glad to hear she seems better, but I personally would still honestly get her an avian vets appointment ASAP to double check, especially if she was as bad as you described. If a birds shows weakness it can mean that there is a bigger problem than you think, they could help her get better quicker...
