    the Lockmedow show

Yes, these things are not really my cup of tea either. Stress city for the birds.

    Hello

My pleasure. Yes, 'great little parrots' would be my assessment too! Mine were both parent-reared, by the way, and became tame very quickly. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking a parrot should be hand-reared.

    Hello

I didn't breed them, but I had two tame ones when I was a lot younger. I kept them in an aviary eventually. Hahn's are really lovely birds, very playful and intelligent, and not too hard to get hold of even these days. Be warned though, they are very noisy indeed. I actually found their...

He seems to have been very happy and well cared for, judging from his lovely feather condition. Condolences to you all.

    Thursday 26th August

I was wondering that myself, being opposed to the practice personally. Rosemary Low's article in 'Parrots' magazine was a bit vague on that point. I know at that least some are free-flying.

    Tropical Birdland day out

Looks great. I like that little blue-front. I've been meaning to visit for some time. What did you think of the African grey aviary? Do they have a large flock in there?

    Saying hello

It's also worth trying warm boiled peas - served exactly as we would eat them (without the butter)

    Saying hello

Of course if he's quite elderly a slightly flakier beak is quite normal...so long as he's getting all his vits and minerals. Having the beak filed can be very stressful for the bird.

    Calcium

It's really important to use one that also contains vitamin D3, otherwise they can't absorb the calcium properly. Nutrobal powder and Calcivet powder are pretty good. I give it in scrambled egg where it's easily concealed.

    Moving house!

Mine have moved house loads of times and they've been pretty chilled about it too.

    Moving house!

Blimey, 12 feet high will be paradise for your birds. It's going to be such an inspiring project. Greys in flight look splendid with their red tails fanned out, and the more space they have, the more interesting behaviour you'll see. By the way, we'd just heard today that our mortgage...

    Moving house!

Wow that sounds like a brilliant size for the aviary. Your plan seems excellent to me - no traipsing up and down the garden to visit the birds or anything, and you'll all feel close together. In terms of materials, Rosemead do very good metal metal panels but wood - if it's strong and thick...

Hi everyone, I have a young Amazon and a very brave parakeet

I'm sorry to sound grumpy, but it's a Brotogeris parakeet. Over and out from me on this!

Hi everyone, I have a young Amazon and a very brave parakeet

I don't see any room for doubt. A simple Google search clarifies the matter. https://be.chewy.com/the-affectionate-canary-winged-parakeet/ Parrotlets are completely different birds.
