Parrot vocabulary

900 is a bit high but if the breeder is very good you r bird will have the best start in life and should remain strong and healthy, over the last year and the covid I have noticed all bird prices are going up, I am wondering if Dave breeds them you can contact him through his fathers site at Avifabs.

Theres a guy in edinburgh called Paul Robertson who was suggested to me on a bird related group on facebook. When I spoke to him, which was about a month ago, he had Hahns macaws on eggs. I think he was asking for £750 if I recall correctly. I decided to adopt through a rescue and am patiently waiting for them to call with a suitable bird but ive seen Hahns macaws also come up on a couple of the websites for rescues in england as well if thats a route you'd consider

There is one on a nationwide rescue at the moment.
If its the plucked one that may be the one I saw but it is based down in england somewhere and when i spoke to them about rehoming they said that living in scotland would put me at a disadvantage. However, might be an option for someone else. Is it the same rescue you got Bert from?

Yes

If you dont mind me asking, did you have to wait a long time between applying and getting a homecheck as I applied for a bird from there, based in scotland, about a month ago now but after the initial phone call havent heard anything else since

it can take time as they will not want a bird to go to you if they do not think it will settle, you have the added holdup as there may not be so many birds in your area one thing you will need with birds is patients and you may have to have some while you are waiting. transporting birds is normally on a voluntary Basis, your charity rep will have notified the charity of the bird you will like to take on, it is up to the current voluntary carer to assess the bird for suitability and when it is ready for rehoming. if the bird is based further away it can take time for them to get the bird to your rep.

Home checks are currently On hold I believe or certainly difficult due to COVID, everyone is a volunteer and most/all can’t or don’t want to be entering numerous houses.

It’s a difficult time so will take longer than usual,

I was told on the initial call that they had started doing them again but following government guidelines. Was just curious as I wondered if perhaps I had just been unsuccessful on this occasion or could be due to the fact that they were still 3hrs from me. They said it might affect my chances due to volunteers having to travel quite far to do the homecheck and then also id have to collect the bird and in some cases they said they prefer not to do that if its a nervous bird that doesnt like travelling. I applied at the scottish charity and passed my homecheck with them a couple of weeks ago although I didnt apply for a specific bird. Its a case of waiting until they match one to me which is exciting 😄
