OK so just wanted to ask some stuff make sure I'm doing OK. She was born 12-1-20, she is eating seeds at the moment which no matter how much I reduce she wants nothing to do with pellets. She does get some bell pepper, apple, carrot and occasionally banana (all I have at the moment) besides that she steps up is well behaved but does bite my ear for no reason sometimes. Her poop is a little watery sometimes but she has only been here a week. Also any help making sure she doesn't over bond? I'm a lil guilty at baby birds cheeps coming at me while she flys to where I am and tries to get through the bars to me but worry if I let in too much it could lead to plucking? Besides that here is a video of the noise she always makes constantly which I belive is just normal baby parrot noises :

Sorry for long wall of text any help appreciated! Also I only poked her with finger as sometimes she wants scritches other times food but since I don't speak parrot.

Dear little bird, what is her name please.
Have you give her millet spray no doubt she will enjoy nibbling at that.
Do offer various fruits & veggies just a little it doesn't matter if she doesn't eat them but she will likely have a little taste, it all takes a long time. She is still quite young and has not been with you long at all so is likely missing her previous home/flock. I am sure you will get into a routine and will enjoy each others company Senegals are such dear little birds. What seed is she having? all mine have Tidymix parrot mix none would ever touch the pellets. We all have our thoughts on pellets.

Her name is tato, she's having a generic parrot seed thing as I am trying to convert her if that doesn't work il swap her problem is she only eats the seeds of those. Thanks for reply I just wanted to make sure the sounds where normal and things where OK.

Hello and welcome, I have been trying to answer your post most of the day but have been very busy. I have three Senegal's and have looked after others but I have never been able to convert them too pellet's. what a sweet call it reminds me so much of my Terry when I first got him yes its a normal call for a young sennie. She is lovely and they are so good at stealing our hearts from the start.

Hello and welcome from me and Dora who is a 5 yr old Senegal. She has never really taken to pellets although will sometimes eat Topps pellets in the evening, and is offered Harrison's lifetime but will only occasionally eat them straight from the freezer!
Tato is so sweet and I look forward to seeing more pictures of her.

Our Jardine (closely related to Senegals), eats a dry parrot mix with a bit of pellet mixed in, plus fruit, vegetables, beans and pulses. It can take time to change to new diets, so please keep trying. There might be a lot of food wasted at the start, but be patient with Tato.

Millet is a good treat, but please do not give her too much. It can be used to help Tato be comfortable with you and enjoy your company, because you are giving her something that she really enjoys.

I would not be worried if Tato does not take to pellets. Veterinarians like to encourage us towards that type of food for our birds as they know that many birds are only given seed, which is not good for them on its own. The variety of food types described above, even without the pellet, is very good for her and gives her the vitamins and minerals that she needs. It is far more interesting than pellet too, full of different flavours and textures.

Thanks for all of your replies it's helped put me at ease, she's not overly find of millet honestly, she prefers sunflower seeds which I am desperately trying get her off off as its all she wants to eat most of the time and toasted wholemeal bread which I'm eating xD

Apart from that how much time do you guys spend with your sennies? I'm being cacious while young giving her little as is safe incase in future I can't spend all my time with her as I'm worried about overbonding and well plucking

I try to spend as much time as possible but I have quite a large flock but this has not stopped me from training them and I have used them in some of my lectures. they are in my opinion one of the easy birds to train doing tricks and thrive on the interaction this is NibletView attachment 29319
Hello beautiful Niblet, I want to upload pictures but sadly unless it's a new thread my photos are too large xD she's asleep on my chest as I type this despite me being low down so I wouod assume she is fond of me she gets lots of attention and you are right on being easy to train she is already doing clicker training AT 10 WEEKS! Crazy only basics so far working on it such lovely birds

photos have to be under two MB some times you can reduce the size of the photo by emailing it to your self or if you have windows using the old Paint programme you can change the amount of pixels a photo will use.

Yeah just most are on phone and they isn't like to resize easy :p

No even front facing are too big il most likley just upload to imgur for future threads as this was more about how long I should spend time with her to avoid overbonding, diet and sounds

they need lots of toys to keep there minds active in the cage but always make sure there is room for your bird to use its wings. as a young bird try to introduce her to, I have found the more people she will meet and get to trust the less likelihood of over bonding. mine are out the cage most of the time, they have there favorite places to stay, they do come to me often and they love to meet strangers.

She has lots of toys and a cage but enough for her to stretch and fly sadly I don't have a room where she can just fly hence when she's out it's under supervision she usually gets a min of 4 hours with me out the cage and the days she's responsive to it recal training (well she does that just not going back to perch)
